I’ve become re-addicted to YouTube over the last few months. There comes a point in each and every YouTube binge where you’ll find yourself wondering “how did I get here? Do I really need to know how to tie a scarf 77 different ways? Well, at least now I know how to backpack across Europe on the cheap cheap.” Or maybe that’s just me.
I have so much appreciation for all YouTube creators after learning about how much planning and editing goes into each video. I’ve always admired beauty gurus for finding the perfect shot and creating videos that are as visually pleasing as they are entertaining. I’m not huge on beauty products, since I’m pretty much always rocking a bare face. My frequent experiences with YouTube purgatory, however, have led me to so many makeup videos that I now know absolutely everything there is to know about makeup. *Note: this is a joke. I know I’m not great at makeup and will never claim to be! *
If you’ve been keeping up with my posts, you know I just bought myself a lot of clothes! Along with the dozens of apparel items delivered to my door came LimeCrime’s Livin on a Prairie Velvetine set. I love LimeCrime because it’s liquid lipsticks, or Velvetines, stay on way better than any other brand I’ve tried. The Velvetines are also true to their matte title. They are not tacky and do not crust off when I’m eating or drinking. LimeCrime is also certified vegan!
The grungy-grey blue shade “Thistle” really caught my eye when I received this set in the mail. I’ve always loved bold, bright blue makeup because of the don’t-give-a-shit attitude that it gives off. When I tried Thistle on, I decided to create my first beauty-related blog post.
Go easy on me guys! This might not be up to current makeup standards, and I definitely dont have perfect technique, but this look made me feel like a cotton candy princess. Only if for a day.
I stared off by priming my face with the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. I then applied this NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in the color Alaska to my face and blended it using a damp beauty blender because I’m totally a professional. Next I covered up my designer college student bags with the NYX Dark Circle concealer in the shade Fair. I then used this (super old/ not vegan) Mineralize Skinfinish by Mac to bronze my face. I do not know the color because it literally faded off the packaging. I applied the bronzer to my temples, cheekbones and jawline. Next, I set my concealer with this highlighting powder from Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour kit. I used this color, Sand, because of its shimmery, pinkish finish. I used the same contour kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills to contour my cheekbones up to my temples and along my jawline, below the bronzer. I highlighted my t-zone, nose, chin, upper lip and the area above my contour with the NYX Born to Glow liquid illuminater. I added this loose LimeCrime highlighting powder (that I cannot find anywhere online) above my contour for an extra sparkly, princess glow. I also used a NARS blush in the color Orgasm on my cheekbones. I use the limited edition Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Theodora palette to fill in my brows. Yeah, this palette is four years old. Don’t be like me. I also scored the tiny brush from a benefit brow duo! I just take the middle brown shadow and blend it into the rightmost brown shadow as I work through my brows. I then use the white shadow to highlight under my browsing make them pop. I used the Morphie 35W palette to start off my eyeshadow. I applied the bright pink color below on my whole lid. Next I used the Urban Decay Vice Palette. I applied this sparkly pink color, Noise, to the outer part of my lids and blended it into my creases. Once Noise was packed on bright I applied thevibrant blue color, Unhinged, to the inner corners or my lid.
I applied Covergirl’s Super Sizer Mascara to my lashes. I then applied a pair of drug store falsies with tweezers, and added some extra mascara to bind them to my lashes.
I used Sephora’s Colorful Waterproof eyeliner in this unknown light blue shade to line my eyes. I went over my brows with Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner in the color Amp. I really packed this on so the lil unicorn sparkles would show up in my photos. I then used LimeCrime’s Thistle Velvetine, mentioned above, as my lipstick. No lip liner needed! I got a full application from one dip in the tube. Pretty impressive.
Lastly I set my face with the NYX Dewy finish setting spray. Most of these NYX products were recommended by my coworker, Casey, who I am forever grateful for!
